Session Abstract:

Proper management of capital is critical to the long-term survival and profitability of an insurance company. Industry trends are driving companies towards increasingly sophisticated techniques to calculate capital and utilize this metric in managing the business. However, a number of factors hinder progress towards advanced capital management in the insurance industry. Among these are the availability of sophisticated tools to calculate capital, and capabilities to deal with the data required for calculation and to effectively use the results in running the corporation. This presentation will discuss trends in capital management in insurance, the resulting technology and data management implications and present a solution.
