Nigel Hooker, Executive Vice President, Professional Services Europe

Mr. Hooker joined the Company as one of the co-founders in 1999. As head of the Professional Services group in Europe, he is responsible for providing support to DFA's European customers and partners, ranging from training and initial implementation support to ongoing advice and coaching; providing technical support for the European sales and marketing process; and providing conceptual input to DFA’s continual product development.

Mr. Hooker is an experienced model builder and project leader, and has implemented models for U.S. and European customers that have been applied to many customer problems, including Aggregation, ALM, Capital Management, Financial Planning, Performance Management, and Reinsurance Optimization. Mr. Hooker is a Fellow of the UK’s Institute of Actuaries and holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Cambridge University.

Prior to joining DFA, Mr. Hooker served in senior actuarial positions at Zurich Financial Services. There he developed ZFS’s internal approach to Risk-Based Capital attribution; he led reviews of the liabilities of the main ZFS operating companies and of ZFS’s acquisition targets; and he was the main actuarial contributor to ZFS’s internal DFA efforts. He also was Chief Actuary with ZFS operating companies in London. Prior to this, he was an actuarial consultant.

In 1995 Mr. Hooker was elected Deputy Chairman of the London Market Actuaries Group. He has chaired working groups of the UK’s Institute of Actuaries on topics ranging from Risk Based Capital to Reserving for Outwards Reinsurance. At present Mr. Hooker is on a panel advising the UK’s Board for Actuarial Standards on developing a technical standard for modeling.
