Mr. Weiss is a co-founder of DFA, and has served as a senior principal since its inception, responsible for all of the company’s software development activities and technology matters.
Prior to co-founding DFA, from 1997 to late 1998, Mr. Weiss served as a senior vice president and head of technology for Finance & Investments of ZH Group in New York. There he managed numerous projects, including the creation of a global investments data warehouse, a global catastrophe risk analysis system, and implementation of a risk management system. In addition, he had responsibility for the technological integration of recently acquired asset management firms.
From 1994 to 1997, Mr. Weiss served as managing director, chief technology officer, and head of the operations and technology division of UBS’s North American region, where he had line management responsibility for over 400 technology professionals. He orchestrated the creation of a comprehensive information technology strategy.
From 1982 to 1994, Mr. Weiss served in various management capacities with Morgan Stanley in New York, including as a principal and head of technology for the Worldwide Fixed Income division, as head of trading for the analytic proprietary trading department. He served in various other roles including research manager, analyst, and head of training.
Throughout his career, Mr. Weiss has remained at the forefront of the application of technological power to enable the development of complex financial products.
Mr. Weiss holds an A.B. in Economics from Harvard University.
