Position:

Insurance Accounting and Tax Analyst / Programmer

Primary Responsibilities:

The Insurance Accounting and Tax Analyst Programmer develops software that enables our solutions to satisfy major North American and European accounting standards, regulatory regimes and tax laws relevant to insurance companies. While not required to be qualified for the position, the successful candidate will become an expert in US GAAP, US Statutory Accounting, IAS and other accounting standards in addition to the tax laws applicable to North American and European insurers. Training will be provided as needed for the candidate to gain the programming skills necessary for the position. This person will:

  • Acquire and maintain current knowledge of accounting standards and tax preparation for insurance companies operating in North America and Europe.
  • Create specifications for transforming simulation output consisting of insurance underwriting results and investment returns into accounting statements, regulatory metrics and tax forms.
  • Implement these specifications in software.
  • As necessary, demonstrate the soundness and correctness of the calculations to financial audit firms for sign-off / approval.

Requirements:

A self-motivated individual with an entrepreneurial spirit who enjoys working in a high energy, dynamic team environment.

Education:

  • Bachelor degree (business, accounting or computer science field preferred) or comparable education
  • A minimum of two semesters of financial accounting
  • A minimum of one semester of computer science / programming

Experience:

  • Minimum two years experience with at least one of the following: business accounting, corporate tax accounting, programming accounting, or tax software

Not required but would be desirable:

  • CPA or extensive knowledge and/or experience with accounting
  • In depth knowledge of the insurance industry
  • Fluency in at least one programming language
